Privacy Policy
This policy explains what Binging collects and how that information is used.
Information we collect
- Account information — your email address, and the name and profile photo shared by Google if you sign in with Google.
- Your watchlist content — the movies and shows you add, their status (want to watch, watching, watched), your 1–5 star ratings, and any reviews you write.
- Friend connections — friend requests you send or accept, and the resulting friendships.
- Push notification tokens — if you allow notifications in the mobile app, we store a device token so notifications can be delivered to that device.
How we use it
We use your information to run your account, save and display your watchlist, generate recommendations based on what you have watched, let you connect with friends, and deliver notifications you have opted into. We do not sell your personal information.
What friends can see
When you accept a friend request, that person can see your profile and your watchlist entries, including statuses, ratings, and reviews. Anything you would rather keep private should not be added to your watchlist notes. People who are not your friends cannot see your watchlist.
Service providers
Binging relies on a small number of third parties to operate: a hosting and database provider that stores your account and watchlist data, Google for optional sign-in, The Movie Database (TMDB) for search results, poster images, and recommendations, and Apple Push Notification service for notifications on iOS. Searches you perform are sent to TMDB to return results; your watchlist, ratings, and reviews are not shared with TMDB.
Data retention and deletion
Your watchlist entries stay in your account until you delete them. You can delete individual entries at any time from the entry screen. If you want your account and all associated data removed, contact us using the details below and we will delete it.
Security
Your data is stored with access controls so that each account can only read and write its own records, plus the records of friends you have accepted. Traffic to and from Binging is sent over HTTPS.
Children
Binging is not intended for children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect information from them.
Changes to this policy
If this policy changes, the updated version will be posted on this page.
